I am a Sharpie girl from way back. I love how they write. I love their smell. I love their permanence. The only thing I don’t like about them is how it invariably bleeds through to the other side of the paper I’m writing on, but my Sharpie love trumps that and I’ve learned to ignore the thorn for the beauty of the rose.
Recently the folks at Sharpie decided to kick it up a notch and released a new premium model. Gone is the plastic white and black barrel that we know and love. This new version is a nice sleek and sexy stainless steel barrel. I like! I like! It includes the fine tip, which I love because it makes writing clearly so easy. The handy clip on the barrel allows you to attach it to a notepad, clipboard or your jacket pocket with ease.
It was introduced just this month and is available at a variety of retailers, including Staples, Wal-Mart and Office Depot. It retails for $6.99. Yes, it’s a little pricier than the other Sharpie versions, but this one is also refillable, so you’ll get way more use out of it (and we love the eco-friendly aspect of that here at The Voice of Mom!). Refills go for $1.99 each.
The only drawback with this marker is its slipperiness. The barrel is slick because of its stainless steel aspect, and so is the narrower end where the ink flows from. I would love to see a little thin rubbery grip where you hold the marker, to keep it firm within your fingers. Aside from that, love it.
The premium marker was introduced last month at a red-carpet celebrity awards show, because the makers thought it would be perfect for the celebs to use to sign their autographs. And, well, if it’s good enough for the celebs to use…

I agree with you, great marker, and great upgrade to a classic. I do have to say though that I didnt find the barrel to be at all slippery, and the grip section is actually a bit thicker and doesnt have the shiny finish when compared to a regular Sharpie. I’ve got my review posted at the link below with some pictures, including a close up comparison shot of the regular vs. stainless steel sharpie grip sections.

Nothing wrong with a little difference in preferences though, thats what makes reviews so interesting to read! :)
