When it comes to diaper bags, I am quite particular. What I look for most beyond the obvious (good construction, value for the money, attractiveness and more) is a bag that will double-duty. I want a bag that I can use for other purposes once the need for a diaper bag is gone. I recently became acquainted with the line of diaper bags from Kirsten James.
The GOOD: There is a vast array of gorgeous handprinted fabrics to choose from for your new diaper bag, including several organic selections as well. Beyond diaper bags, there are also handbags, tote bags and other selections available.
The BAD: There is nothing in the way of more masculine or unisex prints, so this one’s for us and us alone, girls.
MONEY MATTERS: Prices start at $42 (depending upon bag and fabric choice) and your selection can be purchased via an Etsy shop (and The Voice of Mom loves Etsy!). Bags are also available at two Florida stores and will be sold at an upcoming show.
The MOM VERDICT
Cate says: I think I’m in love. As soon as I opened up the package, I gasped just a little. And it wasn’t so much for the gorgeously cute print as it was for the construction of the bag. (I received the Alexis diaper bag). I’d be hardpressed to find another bag that is so well constructed and planned out. The bottom of the bag is nice and thick so the bag will stand up when you set it down, instead of flopping over (which I hate, thankyouverymuch) and there are pockets everywhere. The phrase “a place for everything and everything in its place” can’t fit this diaper bag more. There is a nice big snap that keeps the bag closed and a thick, soft changing pad included that is perfect for your little one. I honestly could not get over how well this bag was made and applaud the attention to detail. And my criteria about it doing double duty? Not a problem here; this bag will make a perfect weekend tote bag once our diaper days are done. Bravo, Kirsten James, bravo!

I love this bag! So cute for spring and is so unique compared to other diaper bags out there. I don’t think the “Bad” is all that bad anyway – how much does your husband carry the diaper bag anyway?

I had to ask for business cards, because I get so many compliments when I wear my bag out. Kirsten James bags are extremely stylish, but the quality and construction of the bags is what is truly impressive. Well worth the money. I’ve been trying to pick out my next one, but it’s hard to decide on just one!

I received a Kirsten James diaper bag for Christmas and I love it!!! It has a really cute tropical patter with vibrant colors which make it unique from most other pastel colored diaper bags. I also love the fact that it can be used as more than just a diaper bag. Having a versatile bag is the first feature I look for. I love that my bag can be used once my children are older. Great job and I hope to purchase new bags and see more patterns in the future.

I love these bags!!! I received the Alexis bag as a shower gift last summer and I have been so impressed with it’s durability and fashion-forward design. I have seven children (two still in diapers) so I’ve gone through a number of diaper bags over the years. This one surpasses them all! I also have the Chanel bag which I use to tote books or my yoga gear when I go to work out. It’s very versatile and equally well made. People often stop to ask me “Where did you get that cute bag?” I love to give them as shower gifts because they are unique and very well constructed.

I love my Diaper bag! I received mine as a gift for my second child and I use it all the time. I can carry everything for both children and my wallet so I only carry one bag instead of two. I love the durability, fashion and functionality of these bags. Awesome job!!! I am always checking the website for new designs and patterns. Can’t wait to design one for myself. I’ve bought a bag to carry my lunch and reading material to work and receive so many compliments. I followed up by attending a show and found the perfect purse for me. I love everything about it and the fabric is so fabulous that I just want more and more patterns. I just love the Kirsten James bags.

I have both the “Alexis” bag, and the “Heidi” bag, and they get rave reviews! I originally purchased the Alexis as a carry-all for my jewelry business gear, and received so many compliments on it, that I bought the “Heidi” bag too! The quality construction, affordability and gorgeous prints make these original bags so much fun, it’s impossible to choose just one!

I have two Kristen James bags. They are the only purses I use anymore. They fit all of my stuff and even have a pocket for my keys and phone. I love Kirsten James bags so much that I also give them as gifts. Keep up the good work.

I have two of the Kirsten James bags. These bags are very durable, affordable & stylish. Everytime I carry one of the KJ bags I get so many people asking me “where did you get your bag”. I refer them to her website and tell them how great they are. Unlike most bags these bags hold up very well in the laundry & I would recommend these bags to anyone.
