When we were in high school and college (heck! all the way into adulthood), my friend sw0re by Little Debbie brownies. The fudge-y, chocolatey little brownies even accompanied her to the hospital when she had her first baby. But they aren’t exactly the most healthy things out there. So when I saw that Little Debbie had introduced a 100 calorie version, I was excited to share the news.
The GOOD: These Triple Fudge Brownies have all the taste of the original in a controlled portion size. It’s just enough to satisfy a sweet craving without filling you up. They are petite and will fit easily into any purse, lunchbox, etc. They are also individually wrapped.
The BAD: When I say that these are petite, I mean they are small — like the size of a square of chocolate and 2-3 times as thick. Don’t expect to get more than a few bites out of this.
MONEY MATTERS: These are available in retail stores throughout the country. They sell for about $3 per box of 12.
The MOM VERDICT
Sarah says: These taste great. They are perfect little bites of fudgy brownie. They are also just the perfect size for my one-year-old and three-year-old to have as a snack. But I have to admit, I pulled the first one from the package and thought, you must be kidding me! This cannot be 100 calories. But it is. I would probably buy these as an occasional treat for my children, but the diminutive size is a deterrent for me to crave them.
