My nearly-one-year-old daughter has a real weak spot for blankets. Soft ones. Of all kinds. When she takes a nap or goes down for the night, she grabs a blanket and snuggles it up against her cheek, holding it in one hand, while sucking fingers three and four on her other hand. And her monkey is never far from the picture, squeezed tightly underneath her arm. So when I heard about the super soft blankets from the folks at Ally Zabba’s, I was all ears.
The GOOD: One side of the blanket is made from this raised plush fabric that has these little rosettes all over (think along the lines of minky fabric), and the other side is a gloriously smooth silk fabric. The blankets come in two sizes, Large (34×28) and a Small (Travel) that is 16×14. There is a wide variety of colors and patterns to choose from, both boy and girl friendly. The blankets come in an adorable little gift bag, ready to give to someone special.
The BAD: The cleaning instructions come on an attached card. I wish they were on a label actually on the blanket. I think if it was really small, it could be done without detracting from the actual design (after all, they do have a logo label on the blankets), and this way, I don’t have to worry about remembering to wash the blanket in only cold water.
MONEY MATTERS: The small size sells for $24.95 and the large is $59.95. They can be purchased directly from Ally Zabba’s website.
The MOM VERDICT
Cate says: As soon as my daughter saw what was in the box when I opened it, she climbed onto my lap, took the blanket from my hands, and held it up to her cheek. Minutes later, she was lying on the floor with it, sucking her two fingers. She cracks me up. But this blanket was made for her … and your baby too. It’s so incredibly soft, you just want to wrap yourself in it, curl up on the couch and take a nap. Perfect for a shower gift, just because, or for your own little one, the colors are vibrant, the blanket soft and the user happy. What more could you want?
