If you’re a regular reader of The Voice of Mom (we love you!), you know that my son and I are voracious readers. Voracious. We love a new book, but we also love rediscovering an old favorite just as much. Today? It’s a new discovery from the folks at Tricycle Press.
The GOOD: Beautiful drawings that are quite perfect for a storyline that takes place in France, they instantly conjured up visions of Marie Antoinette. The story was fun and different, and the perfect length for bedtime reading.
The BAD: Not a thing.
MONEY MATTERS: This retails for approximately $14.95 and can be purchased from your favorite local bookseller, or online at Amazon (where you can snap it up for under $10!).
The MOM VERDICT
Cate says: A few months ago, there was a little boy in my son’s class that was, well, not doing nice things. It upset my son and after a long talk, I told him to picture the little boy in his underwear, just to kind of put a different perspective on his dealings with him. My son giggled. As we went to class the day after our talk, I told the teacher not to be surprised if she caught him giggling in class, and explained why. So you can see that when I saw the title of this book, I thought it would be perfect. The drawings throughout are fabulous, and it’s a story that is refreshingly something different, and it had us smiling and laughing at the end … and who doesn’t need a little more of that these days?
