My three-year-old son, Will, loves to read. He is psyched every night to see what book we are reading. My one-year-old daughter, Paige, on the other hand? She’d rather toss the books in the air or grab them and eat them.

Still, even if it’s just for biting, I like Paige to have books that are geared toward her. That’s why I was excited to review eebee’s Have a Ball! Adventures. The soft book is filled with a simple adventure of a ball, and it includes a little ball that is tethered to the book. You can shoot the ball through hoops and use it in other ways to interact with the book in an ultra-low tech way. I love low-tech.

The GOOD: eebee’s Have a Ball! Adventures is an very soft, ultra-plush book for the youngest future readers in your family. No need to worry about pages tearing, the cloth will take care of that. Plus, if it gets dirty, you just toss it in the wash. Also, the interactivity of this book with the tethered ball is a great way to get little kids interested.

The BAD: None to speak of.

MONEY MATTERS: eebee’s Have a Ball! Adventures retails for $14.99 and is available in stores and online at retailers like Amazon.

The MOM VERDICT

Sarah says: I couldn’t wait to turn this book over to my daughter when it arrived. It’s so soft and actually cuddly. And the ball? So much fun. As for my daughter? She is a tough sell on books, but I did catch her playing with this and checking out the bright pictures. Good sign! I am so loving this eeBee book. It would make a great gift for a young child in your life.

Cate says: My 10-month-old daughter loves storytime.  She usually squishes herself between me and my six-year-old son and grabs at the book frequently while I’m trying to read.  Some nights it’s a story for her, some nights it’s a story for him.  But they’ve all been paperback or board books so far, until eeBee’s came along.  I actually hadn’t heard of eeBee’s until recently when my mom bought my niece an eeBee doll.  We love the squishable softness of the book and it’s a total bonus that we can just throw it into the wash for a quick clean-up.  Cute and playful colors, we’re new fans here…

… and now you can have your very own eeBee’s book. They have generously sent us a few extra that we’d like to give away to The Voice of Mom readers.  Today we have Laundry Time Adventures up for grabs.  Perfect for kids age 9-36 months, it can be yours.  To enter, leave a comment and let us know your favorite book for tots.  Twitter this post (and let us know) and get an extra entry.  Contest deadline is 5 pm EST and winner will be chosen by random generator and announced here.  Good luck!

My daughter brings me book after book to read to her. She likes Good Night Oakey. It’s about a bunny that is scared to go to bed but his mom shows him there is nothing to be afraid of. It’s pretty cute.

I love David Shannon’s books, my son is very entertained by them and the illustrations make me giggle too.

  3. Angelmary Says:

Elijah’s (3 ys) favorite book is ‘Things that Go’. He’s made me read it so many times that the cover has started to tear! His other favorites include the Scooby Doo picture books which I also read almost daily. My little one, Ali-Gabriel, loves to just flip pages and pretend to read. I think its especially cute when he looks through an animal picture book.

  4. Caroline Says:

My favorite book is “Is Your Mama a Llama?” I don’t know, it just cracks me up. My three-month-old does not care one way or another but I LOVE it.
