When my son and I are choosing books at bedtime, besides books for him, we also choose books that he can read to his baby sister.  Although he can’t read all the words in this one quite yet, he can read quite a lot of them, and he loves reading to her.  Learning activity for him, bedtime story for her, color me a happy camper.

The GOOD: I love the pictures in this series of books.  Colorful, fun and happy, exactly what you want in a board book.  The story is a nice way to remember what we love most about the country – loved the baby swinging in the apple orchard and looking up at the starry sky.

The BAD: Not a thing.

MONEY MATTERS: The book is published by Tricycle Press and retails for $6.95.  It can be purchased from your favorite local bookseller or online at Amazon.

The MOM VERDICT

Cate says:  I love this series, and it’s one of my favorite new discoveries.  They’re fun little stories that are perfect for bedtime.  I love the subtleties in the pictures (farm animal mobile in this one, for example), and as we receive the next one in the series, we find ourselves going back to reread the others as well.  If I could manage to save one of these, they would have made a great stocking stuffer for Madeline.  But since I can’t, you can!
