Have you ever read the back of a baby shampoo bottle? It’s enough to send you running and screaming. Lab-made shampoos contain an array of chemicals and additives designed to produce just the right amount of lather and get hair squeaky clean. And never mind about the fragrances.

I recently was introduced to Bath By Bettijo’s Sweet B line of organic baby products. The products are designed with babies in mind –ultra-mild and pH-balanced. Perfect for my daughter’s delicate skin and hair.

So how did it work?

The GOOD: I love that this is mild and organic. I tried it in my hair, as well as in my son’s and daughter’s hair, and it got our tresses nice and clean, but, it still had a good lather to it.

The BAD: Although this is supposed to have lavender and chamomile in the formula, I found this to really have no scent at all. I would have loved to get a slight note of scent though.

MONEY MATTERS: This retails for $16.50 and is available on the Bath by Bettijo website.

The MOM VERDICT

Sarah says: Clean hair? Yea, that’s a must. But sometimes the popular brands can have an adverse effect on a person’s personal scent. For instance, when one close family member of mine was a baby, whenever the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo No More Tears formula was used on her head, it would create a strong and unpleasant odor. It just didn’t agree with her body chemistry. But I tend to think that more natural shampoos, including organics, don’t have the same issues with body chemistry. Now, in terms of Sweet B, there are a lot of things about the Sweet B Organic Shampoo and Wash that I love – the high amount of lather, for instance. I do wish that this had a light, slight scent to it though, but that’s really a small detraction. Nonetheless, given the pricepoint, I would definitely check out all my options before settling on this or any shampoo.
