As my six-year-old son and I slowly make our way through our self-imposed 100 Book Challenge, we read quite the mix of books nightly.  Some I read to him.  Some I read to Madeline, his baby sister.  And some he reads to her.  Last night, it was all about Foodie Babies Wear Bibs.  With food culture being one of my obsessions passions, this was perfect for all of us, particularly as he was able to read a lot of it along with me.

The GOOD: Although board books are important in terms of spending time with your children, their development and countless other reasons, they can, well, sometimes be boring.  A bunch of colorful pictures designed to catch the babies’ attention and only a smattering of words.  This book, and the series it comes from, are a little different.  Designed to give a little bit more depth to the parent (but honestly, this is no Snowball), it’s a little meatier than its counterparts, which I like.  Colorful pictures of cherubic babies and their very chic parents on every page, and a fun little story to boot.

The BAD: Not a thing … we can’t wait for the next one in the series to come out!

MONEY MATTERS: Published by Tricycle Press, Foodie Babies Wear Bibs retails for $6.95 and can be found at your favorite bookseller or online at Amazon.

The MOM VERDICT

Cate says:  This book is cute in a hip sort of way, and it’s a welcome change of pace from the usual six-word baby books that are out there.  Obviously the baby can’t understand what you’re saying, but it’s nice to offer up something that has a little more substance to it, you know?  Because after all, you’re choosing the title and reading the story as much for them as you are for yourself.  You might as well enjoy it too!  And this one certainly speaks to the little foodie in all of us.  Perfect size for holiday gift giving…
