My nearly 9-month-old daughter is fascinated with her feet.  More to the point, she is fascinated with anything on her feet.  I put socks on her and by the time I’m out the door and she’s in her car seat, both socks are off and she’s happily wriggling her fat little toes.  If she’s not pulling them off, they’re falling off.  To say I’m fighting a no-win battle would be an understatement.  I have, however, noticed that she’ll leave her socks on if she has shoes on her feet.  She’s surprisingly uninterested with the shoes, go figure.  So when we were kindly sent a pair of Bright Beginnings Booties from Russ Kids, you know I was thrilled.

The GOOD: Brightly colored and ultra-soft, these are perfect for little babies and toddlers.  There are six different animals varieties available in the set, each one cuter than the next (love the elephant!).  They have teensy little rubber dots on the bottom of the soles to help keep babies from skidding across the floor.  Because of the wide opening and loose elastic around the ankle, these are easy to get on and off the busiest of babies.

The BAD: The loose elastic is almost a little too loose.  While the big opening is perfect because I have such a hard time getting shoes of any kind on Madeline’s chunky monkey feet, this bigger opening helps that, but also makes them easier to slip off accidentally as well.

MONEY MATTERS: The booties retail for $7.95 and are available at retail locations and online at sites like Amazon.

The MOM VERDICT

Cate says: We received the dog booties and I love the floppy little brown ears and the brightly colored polka dots.  These are great little booties to act as baby slippers while they’re plodding around the house, and are nice and warm when there’s a teensy chill in the air.  These would make a perfect stocking stuffer for a favorite baby in your life.  Although the booties are geared towards babies 0-10 months, the generous ankle opening could prolong their use a bit past that.
