Cute things to write with? I am so a sucker for them. So when a rep from Zebra sent us Cadoozles pencils, we dug right in. These mechanical pencils look like their wood counterparts and even have erasers that look like real pencils.
The GOOD: Cadoozles come in very cute and colorful designs and are lightweight. They never need to be sharpened and they can be refilled with 0.7 mm lead.
The BAD: They are a little shorter than the average pencil length so your hand will have to get used to that. And for those that have larger hands, these might be a little more difficult to use or adjust to.
MONEY MATTERS: Sells for $2.34 for a six-pack and is available at many retailers, including office supply stores, drug stores and chains like Wal-Mart and Kinkos.
EXTRA: In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Zebra Pens has a Pink Ribbon Retractable 2-Color Pen available as well. It has a removable pink ribbon clip which you can put on your purse, notebook or countless other spots. The pen retails for $3.99, and now through October 2009, Zebra is donating $0.25 from every one of these pens sold to the City of Hope Breast Cancer Research, up to $25,000.
The MOM VERDICT
Sarah says: I give these pencils two very enthusiastic thumbs up. They feel like a real pencil in the hand, but without the hassle of ever having to sharpen them. And, since they are refillable, they aren’t too bad for the environment either. I’ve been using these on a daily basis since they arrived. LOVE them!
Cate says: I love how they are designed to look like real pencils – gone are the days of those serious mechanical pencils. Enter the fun ones! Unfortunately as cute as they are, the lead in these and other mechanical pencils is still too thin and nimble for kids to use, so as much as my six-year-old wants to use them, they end up breaking too often. Hiding mine!
