Are you done with last years’ Halloween costume, and still need something for this year?  Then you might want to check out Zwaggle.com, where you can trade your gently-used costume in for another one that better fits your needs.  Taking recycling to a whole new level, and keeping the green in your pocket during these stressful economic times, this is an idea whose time has come.

A modern approach to the age-old practice of handing down instead of buying new, Zwaggle is built on collaboration rather than cash.  Parents exchange gently-used goods for site points, called “Zoints,” which are assigned by the item poster based on its age, condition and overall value.  Zwaggle allows families to find a new home for stuff they no longer need and get “new” items for their kids, all absolutely FREE – the only expense Zwaggle members pay is shipping (if trading with a member outside their geographic area).

Obtaining gently used costumes, accessories and gear on Zwaggle.com makes perfect “cents” for parents who are tightening their belts during trying economic times, but don’t want to compromise one ounce of Halloween fun for their little goblins and ghouls.  Plus, recycling gently used costumes protects the planet by keeping quality, reusable items out of landfills.

We held a local event to do exactly this, a Halloween Costume Exchange. A great success :)

The seasonal kid gear is what kills me, like going back to school, Halloween, and sports time, because I know that I’ll be spending a lot on stuff that will be too small before the month is out. Zwaggle has helped me personally with this little problem, since I don’t have to spend so much on things that I know my daughter won’t wear long enough to wear out. Good find!
