My son and I are currently in the throes of a 100 Book Challenge, and I’m always on the hunt for a new book to add to our growing list.  When I stumbled on Read All About It!, published by Harper Collins, I thought it would be perfect for Nicholas.  Written by the President’s wife, Laura Bush, and their daughter, Jenna, it tells the story of Tyrone, a little boy who loathed the library and reading books, but still managed to “rule the school.”

The GOOD: Colorfully illustrated, it was an engaging tale that Nicholas really got into.  It held his interest from beginning to end, and it didn’t hurt that Tyrone was a monkey bar fiend, an activity Nicholas loves, and has the blisters to prove it.

The BAD: Nothing at all.

MONEY MATTERS: The sticker price at $17.99 is a little steep, but I got it for $12.23 on Amazon, which is significantly easier to swallow.  Nicer still … a portion of the proceeds will benefit both Teach for America and The New Teacher Project.

The MOM VERDICT

Cate says: A wonderful book to add to your personal library.  Nicholas was able to read a lot of the book along with me, and was still talking about it the next day.  A keeper for us, and one we’ll be enjoying for many storytimes to come.
